The Headland House series was published by William C Merrett in 1946. Hamilton, using the Bessie Bunter pen name of Hilda Richards was forced to create yet another school as at that time he had not received permission from Amalgamated Press to use his original schools and characters.

William C Merrett also published the Sparshott and the Winston Cardew Romance Series.
