Schoolgirls' Own Library The first series of the Schoolgirls' Own Library ran from November 1922 until June 1940, a total of 733 issues before becoming yet another casualty of the wartime paper shortage. The second series started in October 1946 and ran until September 1963, a total of 410 issues. The SGOL reprinted stories from the popular girls papers of the time like the Schoolgirls' Own, School Friend and the Schoolgirls' Weekly. In 1982 Dennis Bird (assisted by Arthur J.
Southway of South Africa and Ray Hopkins) produced an authors listing for the
